"The Battle of the Neutral Zone" (to the tune of "The Battle of New Orleans") by Ellen Edgerton On stardate 45129.4 We were mapping strange anomalies around Galornden Kor Two warbirds came and uncloaked right off our side, And they clearly meant some business and they weren't gonna hide -- CHORUS We hailed their ships but the warbirds started firing No other ship could help us, we were out there all alone We raised our shields but our defenses they were tiring We were under heavy fire out along the Neutral Zone Picard was prudent, for it looked we might be beat And so he ordered Data to turn round and make retreat But when we turned to go, something terribly was wrong We were suddenly surrounded by a dozen warbirds strong -- CHORUS We knew we had to warn the Federation But the Romulans they surely weren't about to let us go We knew we had to stop the Romulan invasion We were fighting for our lives out along the Neutral Zone And they fired on the bridge and they fired on the engines Our outer hull was breached and we lost a dozen crew They took turns shooting and we couldn't last much longer Our shields were slipping fast but we knew what we had to do "Surrender, humans," hailed the biggest ship Lieutenant Worf just growled at them and slowly curled his lip -- Alas they didn't know they were in for a surprise They had underestimated a ship called the Enterprise -- CHORUS We fed 'em photons, our phasers were a-blazin' No other ship could help us so we did it all alone We held our ground and we saved the Federation Sent the Romulans a-runnin' far beyond the Neutral Zone.
