SWILnews 2: Vol 4. 9-12-81 If this is the first SWILnews you've received this semester, don't panic. SWILnews 1 was mailed the first day I was back to the oldtimers. (Well, to most of them, my apologies to those I omitted.) Announcements: There will be a meeting this Sunday at noon as usual. Jim will chair it because my brother is coming to visit and to take me out to brunch. Also, remember there will be a reading at 10:00 in Jim and Alex'S room(s) - that's Worth K40, again that's on Sunday. Bring your books lists to the meeting. Minutes of the meeting of 9/6/81: 11:59 (Official SWILtime): Alice called the meeting to disorder. and was appointed "The Hammer." By consensus it was decided that only a senior should be allowed to hold the office of The Hammer. 12:01 Everyone introduced his/herself (These introductions were repeated several times as people came in late.} 12:02 We began actual business. Somtow's name was recognized by several promiscuous promising freshlings. 12:05 The reading was scheduled for Sunday at 10:00. There will be no theme, but freshlings will be preference for a shot at reading. 12:O9 Alex arrives in all his glory while we were discussing T-shirts. (T-shirts will be approximately $5 depending on how many people order them. The T-shirt design for last year - as opposed to the one for 2 years ago- will be put up on the SWIL board real soon now. T-shrts can be ordered from Jim. 12:15 The writer's workshop was discussed. We are writing to Scithers (George, that is), Dave Hartwell, and Norman Spinrad about the possibility of bribing them to come. 12:25 We complained about our budget 12:30 We decided to make posters for the writer's workshop just before the filksing. However, as you may have noticed we did not do so, so I will bring poster making materials to the Reading Sunday night. Jennie
