.h/SWILnews/Volume 7 No. 7/November n<7, 1984 .p 5 1 .sp 1 .> IT'S 1984 and IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH .sk 1 Hello folks. Last meeting was plagued with non-members: Ruth and her puck, John Beale, The Niffleheimer, Dave Coates, Perry, Eddie Killer, Irene, The Hindmost, Esther, Julie Love, Gavin, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Jack, Steve Ward, Barbara Weene, Rob Wolff, and the Weyrleaders; and members: Mina Baisch (welcome!), Indiana Jones, Vinny Murrell, Jon Rapkin, and David VanStone. Vinny must make it to next meeting to attain the ultimate Godhood of 42nd Non-member. Weird things happened at this meeting. All of the salt and pepper shakers spontaneously migrated to one table for some group sex; and the chocolate monstrosity that was masquerading as dessert began calling to various beings, but Gavin finally quenched it by stabbing it through the heart with a cry of "Don't touch it, it's EVIL!!!" Now on to business. ..A special vote of thanks goes to Sherry, Esther, and Irene for organizing such a successful SWIL party. Much merriment abounded including off-key filking and marvelous readings/recitations by Jack and Julie. Everyone should be warned that bowling balls don't leak and if you see one that does... The official SWIL movie, {{FAHRENHEIT 451}} will be shown Sunday night 11/11 at 7:30 and 10:00 in DuPont. (Jim, as Treasurer, has the pleasure of making sure that the bill is paid). It is based on a novel by Ray Bradbury and directed by Francois Truffaut. See it; this may be our future. Jon announced that the new Hitchhikers Computer Game based on Douglas Adams' books is released but not available yet. Current price is $45. PHILCON is happening in two weeks. I got a letter from Neil Ottenstein '84, the deposed Ghod Emporer, that he is attending and can offer rides from Swat to there for 3 somewhat sentient beings. He is also looking for crash space (for himself, not his car). If interested, write him,or tell your Weyrleaders. Since the topic of elections just happened to have come up, I suppose that we should consider what to do with SWIL next semester. Traditionally, SWIL Presidency lasts for a Spring/Fall year so our time is almost up. We welcome rival parties but frown on bloody coups, so if any of you out there want to grab some power... the actual election will be held sometime after Thankgiving Vacation. .sk 1 .///Spit upon your telescreens, / .///Jed and Shoshanna / .///or is that Shoshanna and Jed?/
