PLEASE TRY TO BE THERE ON TIME. THANKS. - Melissapline the stressed apologies to dinosaurs; I know y'all don't care when the photo is Date: Wed, 9 Dec 92 14:17:18 -0500 To: swil @ cc.swarthmore.edu From: mshaner1 @ cc.swarthmore.edu Subject: Welcome to Hell- here's your SWILnews Well, for those of you who haven't yet heard, elections were held this past meeting, and the new SWIL co-presidents for 1993 will be..... AARON AND JERE7MY. No, really. Wahoo. [Is that Wahoo, Texas? --B] The goat, as usual, also had a strong following. The curious might be interested to know that jere7my is not in fact the first SWIL president to be re-elected; Jed Classic and Shoshanna Green were two-term presidents as well, way back in - gasp - the 80's. He is, however, the first president to serve with two different co-presidents. After the election, visiting dinosaur Josh Smith '92 made a concession speech, hawking popcorn and peanuts. Well, somebody had to.... So, the coronation will be held on Friday, 23 January, at 8pm in Bond. At this, the inaugural filksing (yes! come sing another rousing chorus of "Banned from Orgo" and "Bouncing Potatoes!"), Aaron and jere7my will announce their new title and take over from jere7my and Melissa. (The next year, as Bondage points out, will be a year without discipline.) Next week's meeting will be the LAST OFFICIAL SWIL MEETING OF 1992, so show up if you care. There will probably be another meeting the week after, depending on who's around, but it won't be official, 'cause this week is the last official meeting, so it can't be the week after, 'cause then it wouldn't be last, would it? Regardless, if Don Lehr shows up, this time for sure he'll get dismembered. As Fox 29 has recently announced, Star Trek: the Next Next Generation (i.e. "Deep Space Nine", no relation to "Deep Star Six") will be premiering in January. We know next to nil about it, except that (so we're told) it will probably be set in a time prior to the original series. Heck, it may even be animated--we don't know. So, wish them luck as they boldly go where two other series have gone before... Kendra has volunteered to take over the position of Loremistress from Jed Hartman (who, we might point out, was a) class of '90 and b) technically the Loremaster). She has received SWILnews archives from Bhadrika and Charles Danforth, and has taken it upon herself to sort through such primary sources and compile an official history of SWIL. Consequently, we figured we'd give her a title. She will probably be writing e-mail to many of you dinosaurs out there, asking for anecdotes, old SWILnewsi, and whatever else you'll donate. (btw, I (B) found the first yearbook photo of SWIL from 1982. Any of you who want to see what Jim Huang or Don Levi (sic) looked like while they were here can find it in Hicks, of all places.) The yearbook photo for this year was taken on Tuesday, as most of you will know. Ask for us by name. A total eclipse of the moon will happen at 6:44 PM tonight, so be sure to have checked your e-mail by then so you'll know about it. Find a nice high place (such as Stephen) and stand on it for the best view.
