From jmrobins @ condor.sccs.swarthmore.edu Wed May 5 11:02:03 1999 Date: Sat, 5 Oct 1996 01:42:11 -0400 (EDT) From: Snibor Eoj To: _swat.org.swil @ swarthmore.edu Subject: Mr. Geisel turns over in his grave, or SWILnews #4 Look into that little room; There sit harbingers of doom. Liberte is on the floor. Fraternite must type once more. Egalite is on the bed. Is he sleeping? No, he's dead. Egalite: "Dead? Dead? I'm not dead! Just a little tired," he said. "Now let us write this silly thing. At this rate, we'll be here 'til spring..." Fraternite: "How am I supposed to type When all you give me is just tripe? We'll never get this SWILnews done. I'll be here 'til I'm 91." Liberte: "Kerble beeble flabber snu Wiggle waggle haga-chu. Flubba-wubba dingle durt Higgle-piggle. Xrt! Xrt! Xrt!" Suddenly, there was a sound. The three presidents turned around, And there, standing in the door, Was a knight from days of yore. In his hands, encased in tin, He held a small rubber chicken. He stepped inside and on the top Of Liberte's head, he gave a bop. He turned around, went out the door. His job was done, that silly chore. The presidents went back to work; Their pressing task they could not shirk. On and on they think and rhyme, From now until the end of time. Liberte is on the floor, And there he'll be forever more. SWILbusiness: We shall go to a Renaissance Faire; Will and Andrea will lead us there. $16 shall be the fee, Though 'twould be nice if it were free. Royal Court begins at 10, So we will want to be there by then. October 6th is the date, We shall leave at half past 8. And some folks might get quite irate At anyone who dares be late. There will be a mighty Hunt With weapons crafted long and blunt. The Pterodactyls are coming here, Filling hunters' hearts with fear. But they will form a mighty band To drive the beasts out of the land. Monsters are needed, a veritable horde Or else those hunters will be bored. Melissa and Joel will run the game, To sign yourself up, contact the same. A little hobbit roams the land, Accompanying a dwarven band. He'll go to rob a mighty dragon, But all he'll get is one small flagon. And in the end he'll head on home, Ne'er more the land to roam. (In Kohlberg, Monday night at ten, hope to see you there and then.) In olden days, we've always gone To that event they call PhilCon. Once again, this con shall we see; For info, see j7y. The GOH is Frederick Pohl, We shall let the good times roll, Though lack of sleep may take its toll. There once was a station out in space, The last hope of the human race, The Minbari, Vorlons, Centauri, and Narn, And that tasty dish that we call flarn. I speak, of course, of Babylon 5, From which the Rangers did derive. To catch up on important stuff, Just hearing it is not enough, So a marathon showing we will do. You think that it might interest you? Read _swat.org.swil to find out when We'll see that station once again. Look! There! Upon our board! Better than a treasure hoard! It is a SWILnews, printed out And posted by Chaos, frosh devout. Three cheers to you from one and all For answering our pleading call. To be sentient, 'tis a marv'lous thing. And some of you may now be asking: "Who can this be? Tell us! Tell us!" 'Tis Kira Joy Casagrande Goetschius (You try to find a rhyme for Goetschius! -L) Our acquiesance she did gain Since her name did indeed contain The letters in 'sentience', one and all So for a vote we then did call. Her end, it was a gruesome sight (to fill the members there with fright.) Non-SWILbusiness: Brainerd was a little town Not of any great reknown 'Til three murders did happen there When mishaps did permeate the air. From there things only went downhill: A total of 8 people were killed. If this film to you isn't known 'Tis Fargo by the Brothers Coen. At Swarthmore, it won't cost a dime To see it, if you've got the time. Surely no one can protest That the Muppets are the best. And so they now return once more: Muppets Tonight is back, as before. There was a hero, Mario by name, In an old Nintendo game. Then came #2, #3, and more, And now the newest on Nintendo 64. j7y bought it, and if you're nice, He'll let you try it once or twice. (It certainly was worth the price. -L) In the skies, up overhead, Spreading upon us a sense of dread, There a dangerous force lies As shown on TV in Dark Skies. Is it good? I do not know; Some say yes and some say no. A carpeted floor can be quite nice To sit on, at least once or twice, For an hour or so; it isn't bad, And worse accomodations could be had. The reason to recline upon these textiles Is to watch the season premiere of X-Files. On Friday night, October 4 It begins again. Who could ask for more? Last, but not least, a joyous thing: TMBG will come and sing In Philly, on October 12, Into their repertoire they shall delve. Enjoy it if you'll be around: A better group cannot be found. Attendance (9/28): Melissa "Error: Sharples: food not found. Abort, Retry, Ignore?" Binde Kira "If one is dismembered, how can one raise one's hand to vote?"
