EMPIROCON III will be held July 3-5 in New York City. Theodore Sturgeon
is guest of honor. It's at the New York Statler, 7th Ave. and JJrd
Street, right across the street from Penn Station. Registration is $10
until June 18 and $12 at the door, and it's limited to 1200, so if you're
thinking about condng, decide and send money in pretty soon. Make checks
out to Empiricon, and send them to TESSFA, P.O. Box 682, Church Street
Station, N.Y., N.Y. 10008. After you do that, let me know here, and if
there are a few people, I'll put in a reservation for a room. It sounds
like there will be more than I can put up at homs (alternately, if you
live in the area, and can put people up, let me know about that too, but
I think it would be better to try to get a room). Also, let me know if
you'd be willing to man a table in the huckster room for a little while
to sell SWIL T-shirts, Unicorn Stars, and Orions. Eniznaf might be
willing to split one with SWIL.

There will be a SWIL meeting at the con to discuss the writer's workshop.
I got a note from Joan Vinge saying" "Thanks very much for getting back
to me with more information about your residency program. It does sound
like something I'd like to try. Unfortunately--fate has intervened since
I last wrote you, and I have found
out that I'm preg-
nant. My husband and
I are very happy
about it, but the
tummy is not too
good for the dates 
we'd discussed re-
garding the residency.
I m afraid I'd better
beg off for this
season. If you do
residencies in the
future, I hope you
will keep me in mind
for next time."
So, what should we
do? We could just
go with Somtow, or
get a replacement.
Write if you have
any ideas, and won't
be at the con.

Speaking of T-shirts,
You can still order
one. Orange is the
popular color, and
you can also get the
old design shirts.
We haven't got enough
orders to do it yet,
so come on, guys.
