Our area of interest this week is Swarthmore, where the ML tunnel has sprung leaks and lower campus has sprung lakes. Rain, that lovely life-giving substance, has been cancelling Archery classes left and right... No! We're not REALLY the World of Rain! April Fools! This is a SWILnews! Ha ha! And we're going to tell you, not about rain, but about SWIL business! Ooh boy! And impersonate Dave Barry! Badly! The George C. Hurliman Memorial Library will definitely need to be moved somewhere next year (as it will soon be a dorm room), and Teddddd Goundie has offered a small room beyond Dead Dog Kitchen in ML for our use. It is dusty and full of junk, but Tedddd has offered to clean it up for us if we decide to use it. I suppose people should take a look at it, so we can have some sort of voting or something about it, within a week or two. We have a budget! Hooray, and thanks to Jim! It seems that Orientation Committee will be paying for our mailbox stuffing next Fall (ho ho), Student Council will pay for our refreshments (we hope), and Forum for Free Speech will pay for our speaker (we assume). Apart from that, everything is the same, except we've got some extra supplies bucks. Dunno what we'll use them for--duct tape for Live Chess this year? Nah... Speaking of marvelous segues, Live Chess will be happening (probably Saturday after Folkdancing after lunch) on Parents' Weekend. Lisa Stefanowich is organizing, so speak to her about signing up. This year's is a little different--we've got CONTEST CHESS! To take a square, you must do something unspecified (like answer a riddle or something). (Um, that part is still being worked out. Write to lstefan1 with suggestions.) Give Nao $7.50 if you ordered a T-shirt. Give Stephen a story if you want there to be a BEM. A regular Mystery Science Theater 3000 source has been located: Alex Juhasz' boyfriend! This means EVERY weekend can be filled with the melodious sounds of laughter (and the odious sounds of bad acting), along with Joel and his robot friends! Ask me about it for details. In the same vein, we should have a copy of the 4-hour version of Dune as of Saturday, and those who would like to watch it should talk to Charles Danforth and/or me. (Charles will have the tape; I will have the VCR. Two great technological advances that taste great together.) Methinks that is just about all the space we have news for. Stay tuned to this spot ---> * for further advances. We'll see y'all on Saturday, when we'll discuss the moving of George.
