Schlock

The schlock film festival is an annual event that takes place during reading week (if reading week still exists). The point of schlock is to show bad movies. In order to do this, we need to know what bad movies to show, and we need to get the movies. Occasionally, SWIL accidentally shows a good movie during schlock. This should be avoided if at all possible.

Schlock should be the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of reading week, and movies should begin in the 8pm-10pm range, depending on what else is happening. Note that schlock replaces the SWIL movie for that week, but that there is one SWIL movie during finals, the week after schlock.

Movies are shown in either Kirby or Dupont lecture halls, Kirby for videotapes, Dupont for reel-to-reel. Both of these can currently be reserved through space@cc, and the advisory about talking to avbox about the movie cabinet in Kirby (see section 2.1 about movies) still holds. A projectionist is required for reel-to-reel movies. It's usually possible to find a SWIL or SWIL-friendly person who is a Student Council projectionist and will volunteer to show the movie for us.
